    HABITAT PRESERVATION

    Our primary objective at The Tortoise Conservancy is to preserve and expand natural habitats for gopher tortoises. We acquire and manage land to ensure these vital ecosystems are permanently protected with conservation easements and maintained for future generations.


    RESEARCH & MONITORING

    To better understand and protect gopher tortoises, we work hand in hand with government agencies, biologists, and volunteers to conduct and support scientific research. This includes monitoring tortoise populations, studying their behaviors, and assessing habitat health.


    CONSERVATION EDUCATION

    We are committed to educating the public about the importance of gopher tortoises and their ecosystems. We hope by establishing the Upper Suwannee Wildlife Education Center on our site in Live Oak, FL we be able to raise awareness and foster a conservation-minded community.

    The Tortoise Conservancy's mission with Your Help is to establish over 10,000 acres as Wildlife Sanctuaries & Tortoise Preserves across Florida by 2035. Today your gift will go toward supporting our Upper Suwannee Wildlife Education Center in Live Oak, FL, and the cost of acquiring other suitable land tracts for our Wildlife Sanctuaries & Gopher Tortoise Preserves.
