Upper Suwannee Wildlife Education Center Fundraiser

🐢  We need your help to make the Upper Suwannee Wildlife Education Center a reality. The Tortoise Conservancy is being given 110 acres of land in Live Oak, FL worth $660,000 as a donation from one of our board members. Our goal at TTC is to protect the land permanently from development as a wildlife sanctuary and gopher tortoise preserve using a conservation easement. We also are planning to open and operate the Upper Suwannee Wildlife Education Center (USWEC) there on the site by early 2026. We will be offering over 14 conservation courses there through our friends at Amazing Animals Tallahassee for students of all ages, on several native Florida species. Even better news, our land donor has also agreed to provide us a 40x30 foot covered outdoor pavilion, install a well and septic, along with providing us a 910 square foot brand new manufactured home to use for restrooms, indoor classes, and a kitchen to feed the visiting students and volunteers.  They are willing to pay for and install it all up front at their cost of roughly $150,000.  So we're getting the 110 acres for free and they are giving us 30 months to pay them back at 0% interest for all of the infrastructure for our USWEC facility. WE NEED TO RAISE $5,000 a month for the next 30 months to make and keep the Upper Suwannee Wildlife Education Center operational. We are only using about a half acre for USWEC, leaving 109.5 acres for the Live Oak Wildlife Sanctuary & Gopher Tortoise Preserve. So our goal to stay on track is to raise $5,000 a month until the USWEC building structures are paid off.
