Our Reddick Wildlife Sanctuary & Tortoise Preserve

WE NEED YOUR HELP

The Tortoise Conservancy is looking to acquire this site by Summer 2025. This 225 acre site to be known as our Reddick Wildlife Sanctuary & Tortoise Preserve is located in Marion County, FL. Over the next few years, our goal is for this site to become home to over 1,000 gopher tortoises as well as the 350 other species supported by them as a Keystone Species.
Because of the size of this project we will look to investors and our Method Three form of acquisition rather than overload our donors.  For this site will need to have the 225 acres of land purchased by someone else, transformed into a gopher tortoise recipient, and then after it is an established recipient site, be donated to The Tortoise Conservancy as we become and remain the stewards of the land and the tortoises in perpetuity.
Once the land has been donated to us, our members and donors will have the opportunity to get involved with habitat enhancement projects as well as building out the nature trails on the property.

Acquiring this property will be huge a win for nature, the Conservancy, and most of all for the preservation of the gopher tortoise species in general.
Our goal as a non-profit organization is to have acquired and set
aside over 10,000 acres for gopher tortoises and other Florida wildlife by the year 2035.
